~ A Mosaic of Musings
and Ramblings ~
Cartoons
describe it best: From The
Family Circus,
the three young children and family dog are in their
white-rail-fenced yard observing the colouful fallen leaves from four
mature maple trees. As the breeze wafts, more leaves descend,
swirling to the green grass. The red-haired pony-tailed child
comments, “All the trees are Cryin'
cause they know summer's over.”
From
Drabble,
Dad empties the children's play pool musing, Goodbye,
Summer! And
then senses, I
can always feel a change after Labour Day. At
his door entrance, he realizes, Outside,
Fall is in the Air. But
it's a different scene inside as he watches his wife hanging
stockings from the fireplace hearth and singing “Fa-la-la-la-la”.
Facing
reality, Drabble concludes ~ Inside,Winter
is in the Air!
Driving:
Some people never learn! A man from New York, after he was caught
driving 'while under the influence of alcohol' not once, but twice in
one night. Not only one of that, he was caught in the parking lot of
the same fast-food restaurant both times. The first time, he hit the
car ahead of him in the drive-through lane. Police were called, he
was charged and a friend came to take him home. Then 4 hours later,
he drove back to the same restaurant...still impaired...and hit the
building...once again charged. Perhaps it's time he gave up those
keys!
Greeting
Invention:
When you lift the phone, you say “Hello”.
Do
you know the real meaning of Hello?
It is the name of a girl...and do you know who is that girl?
“Margaret
Hello”.
She was the girlfriend of Graham Bell who invented the telephone.
His first word on his phone after his invention was “Hello”.
That practice of starting the call with Hello
still continues. One can forget the name of Graham Bell...but not his
girlfriend...that is Love!
Humour:
What do you get if you pour boiling water over a rabbit hole?
(hot-cross-bunnies)
At what time of day was Adam created? (a little before Eve)
A psychologist is a person who encourages you to speak freely...and
then charges you for listening!
Why was Noah the greatest financier on record? (because he had his
company afloat when the rest of the world was in liquidation)

Flight
Diverted for Dog's Safety:
Air Canada says one of its pilots diverted an international flight
to ensure a dog could travel in safety. Simba
was travelling in the cargo-hold on a flight bound to Toronto from
Tel Aviv. En route, however, the unidentified pilot got an indicator
that one of the heaters in the cargo-hold had malfunctioned. Over
the Atlantic Ocean, the pilot realized the dog might not survive, so
diverted the plane to Frankfurt...transferred the dog to another
plane...and made it to Toronto only 75 minutes behind schedule.
New
Cruise Concept:
from Carnival Corp. are offering 'service trips' where passengers
sail to a destination in order to 'volunteer'
there.
The first voyage will be a 7-day trip from Miami to the Dominican
Republic in April 2016 on a ship that carries 710 passengers. They
will get
orientation, basic Spanish lessons and other training en route
and can choose from activities in the Puerto Plata region ranging in
teaching English to building water filters cultivating cacao plants
for a women's chocolate industry.
Airlift
Brings Big Cats to Wildlife Sanctuary:
Mexican authorities have put 8 lions, 2 lynxes, a puma and a coyote
aboard 2 military planes for a special trip to Colorado's Wild Life
Sanctuary in Kleenesbury...after the animals were found mistreated or
abandoned.
Prince
Harry
celebrated his 31st
birthday at a gathering of vintage 'Battle of Britain' aircraft
honouring the pilots who helped protect the country during the
Second World War. He watched as some 40 Spitfire,
Hurrican and Bristol Blenheim bombers
flew in formation.
Nature:
The 'Wood
Duck'
is considered by many to be the most beautiful duck in North America.
Males are characterized by their multi-coloured plumage worn from
October through June. The females are less showy, and although still
beautiful, are more colourful than other species of female ducks.
North
America's Tallest Mountain Peak:
It was reported that President Obama will change the name from Mount
McKinley to Denali. This change bestows the traditional Alaska
Nation name on the peak on the eve of a historical presidential
visit to Alaska. Alaskans have informally called the 20,320 foot
mountain Denali
for years. Obama to be in Alaska as part of an effort to push
climate
change
to the forefront of the global agenda.

Relationships:
Love
Letter
~ A group of Croatians was cleaning up a beach in their local area.
Among all the junk, they discovered a bottle. It was lucky the
finder took a second look...inside was the message written by a
Canadian from the coastal province of Nova Scotia. Written in 1985,
it travelled a long way over a period of many years. Travelling the
Atlantic, it floated the Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas before
reaching Croatia. The letter from 'Jonathan' was written to Mary, a
girl friend.
Read
the Profile:
Those who visit dating sites to find a possible partner, don't
always check the person's profile. Some just look at the photo, not
caring about the person's moral character. Alli Reed, a comedy
writer, posted a photo of a pretty model accompanied by a horrendous
profile; she was amazed to discover that hundreds of men responded,
even though the 'pretty girl's personal info' indicated she was
'mean, spirited, lazy, spoiled, racist and a gold digger'.
Read before you Respond!!!
Long
Marriage:
If you want a long, happy marriage, sit down every morning and eat a
pancake breakfast together. That is the secret to the 75-year
marriage of Robert and Doris Moody, who today are both nonagenarians
and are still loving life as a couple. They met in grade school and
live in Mississippi. Early in marriage, Doris realized that Robert
loved pancakes, so she treated him to them every day. Although they
experienced difficult times over the years, including the loss of
their house in a hurricane, the pair believes that 'by
treating each other nicely and not worrying about the small stuff'
is what leads to a long lasting relationship.
Seniors:
Three things happen when you get to my age. First, your memory
starts to go........and I've forgotten the other two. (Dennis
Healey)
News
Flash from Vancouver:
The Navy intercepted a boatload of people off the coast of BC today.
This placed the Navy in an awkward position...as the boat was not
heading to, but away from Canada, towards Asia. Another surprise
finding was that they were loaded with white Canadians who were all
seniors of pensionable age. Their claim was that they were trying to
get to Asia so as to be able to return to Canada as 'illegal
immigrants' and therefore be entitled to far more benefits than they
were receiving as legitimate Canadian pensioners. The Navy, it is
believed, gave them food and water and assisted them on their
journey. We are booking on the next boat out. Let me know if you're
coming.
Remember, you have to be over 65!
