"IF"

This Birthday message is addressed to a long-time Bridge Friend and Artist.
Her husband invited several to a Celebration Lunch .
For her, I wrote this bit of prose with philosophy for all.

IF I were an Artist,
I would paint of the glorious sun...
orange and tinges of pink.
Of Earth's silvery star as it creeps the eastern sky,
and casts its magic on peaceful Lake Ontario waters.

IF I were a Sherpa,
I'd take you on a climb...
Mount Everest and McKinley,
Kilimanjaro or Aconcagua.
Experience the conquest cresting the peaks.
Celebrate with candles the 360 degree views.

IF I were a Travel Guide,
we'd board a Worldways flight
to romantic isles of Bali, Capri or Bora Bora.
If in Napa or Sonoma Valleys,
hot air balloons we'd soar
o'er the vineyards lush and the Pacific's blue ocean.
A Memory for your Day.

IF I were a Philosopher,
I'd write a few lines as quoted by famous others:

I'm at the age when my back goes out more than I do.” (Phyllis Diller)

The first sign of maturity is the discovery
the volume knob also turns to the left.” (Jenny Wright)

Again, strictly a case of mind over matter;
if you don't mind, it doesn't really matter.” (Jack Benny)

You know you're getting old
when the candles cost more than the cake.” (Bob Hope)

You can't turn back the hands of the clock....but you can rewind it.” (Anonymous)

Forget the past, you cannot change it!
Forget the future, you cannot predict it!
Forget the present...I didn't get you one!
Friendship is the Best...Happy Birthday, Dear Friend!

Written with “finesse” especially for you, September, 2009
